Play Full Out

Yesterday, I was at the gym and was reminded of the direct correlation between how I work out, how I run my company, and how I live my life. We all know exercise is good for us. But for me, the mindset benefits are just as important—if not more—than the physical benefits.
Different forms of exercise create different benefits, and all are essential. Restorative yoga, intense cardio, a walk outside, and heavy lifting are just a few of my favorites. I listen to my body and mind to decide what I “need” most that day, and if it’s a weekend, I might get lucky enough to do it all!
Yesterday was an upper-body lifting day. Our trainers alternate the number of reps throughout the month, which correlates to the amount of weight, but the goal is always to lift to near failure every time. And not just to failure, but with a strong focus on mindset, time under tension, the mind-muscle connection, effort, and intention. Our owner preaches this!
Why Mindset Matters:
- Builds more muscle, which increases metabolism, reduces injuries, and slows the aging process
- Produces more exercise-induced hormones—arguably the best feel-good “drugs” on the planet
Strength Beyond the Gym
Lifting to near failure reminds me that I can ALWAYS do more than I think—inside and outside of the gym. I am stronger than I realize, capable of pushing beyond my limits. Hard things are within my reach—I just have to be willing to try. This mindset shift applies to every area of life.
No one is going to make you lift heavy, work out at your maximum heart rate, or do hard things in life. Only you can do that. And the only one you’re hurting when you cheat yourself out of the last rep, “take it easy,” or “sit out the last dance” 💃 is you. You either use it or lose it—your body AND your mindset.
Play full out. Don’t take dreams to your grave. Exercise so you can live a quality life for as long as possible and give it all you've got. Love fully. Live your “why.” Be passionate about every day. Be present.
The more you give, the more you’ll get—in every circumstance: the gym, your education, a conference, volunteering, working, traveling, or spending time with your friends and family. Why bother spending the time at all, if you're not going to make the most of it?

P.S. The more you give, the more you’ll get—in the gym, in life, and in business. Success comes from showing up, pushing through, and believing in what’s possible.
