Falling in Love with Fall Porch Décor

This fall has been unusually warm in many parts of the country, creating a bit of a decorating dilemma. We want to wear cozy sweaters and bring out our fall colors, but the real flowers haven’t died yet! The summer blooms and palm trees don’t exactly pair well with pumpkins and plaid.
So what do we do...
Do we pull out the live flowers and replace them with fall décor and faux floral Perfect Planter Fillers?
Do we let them live and stick with our summer look a little longer?
Or do we mix the two - keeping summer flowers, adding fall accessories (rugs, pillows, garden flags, etc.), and pretending it all matches?
And since it’s already October… should we toss in some Halloween décor too?
It’s a real dilemma, so here’s my take:
This year, I let everything stay out a little longer, partly because of the warm weather and partly because, well, life is busy! But when it’s time to flip for fall, I’m an all or nothing kind of girl. I just can’t handle things that don’t coordinate.
Of course, flipping my front porch turned into a few extra projects (doesn’t it always?). I decided to refinish the porch floor where the wood stain had chipped and faded, and I gave an old rocking chair a fresh coat of paint. Totally worth it - I love how it turned out.
I updated the window boxes, planters, rug, and seasonal pillows—and of course, my Entry Envy sign.
When I start decorating, I always begin with one piece I literally fall in love with, and build everything around it. This year, it was the rug: bold fall colors, yet soft and inviting. From there, I found a coordinating pillow for the rocking chair, a darling garden flag, and the perfect seasonal décor kit from Entry Envy to tie everything together with my faux floral planters.
Whether you’re walking up to my front door or relaxing on the back patio, there’s no mistaking that it’s fall, because the décor says so, despite the warmer temps! My patio furniture is topped with a cozy faux fur blanket and a velvet pumpkin pillow. Two gorgeous faux fall planters and glowing LED lanterns complete the look.
And of course, I keep an Alexa nearby to make sure the vibe is just right. Pour a glass of red wine, cue up some acoustic tunes, and it’s the perfect fall night. 🍷✨
