How to Create a Welcoming Entry

Your front porch is the first thing people see when they come to your home, so it's important to make it warm and inviting. Whether you're hosting a party or having the neighbors over, a welcoming front porch can create a relaxed and casual atmosphere that is perfect for any occasion. Here are some tips on how to set the tone for the duration of your guests' stay at your home.

Add a Pop of Color

One of the easiest ways to make your front porch more welcoming is to add a pop of color. This could be as simple as painting your front door in a bright and cheerful hue, or adding some colorful planters or cushions. Bright colors such as orange, red or yellow can create a warm and inviting atmosphere, and can help to make your guests feel at home. Red is a flexible color that works great for Christmas, Valentine's Day, summer colors, and the Fourth of July. However, sage green or navy are also great choices that are a little more neutral, but still add color.

Create a Seating Area

Creating a comfortable seating area on your front porch can make your home feel more inviting and friendly. Consider adding some outdoor furniture, such as a bench or a couple of chairs, and a coffee table. You can also add some comfortable cushions or throw pillows to make the seating area more cozy. Throw pillows are easy to update for seasons and even a throw blanket will "warm up" a porch in spring, fall and early winter. Add a rug under the seating area to define the space and allow it to feel like an extension of the home.

Hang String Lights

String lights can create a magical atmosphere on your front porch, especially at night. They can help to create a warm and cozy ambiance, and can make your home feel more welcoming. You can hang the lights along the railing of your porch, or around your seating area to create a cozy and inviting atmosphere. Don't go overboard, but the ambience can be fantastic. This decor idea depends a little more on where you live, but for darker, more desolate areas, it's perfect. As a tip, spray the cords with WD-40 and the spiders won't be able to make webs on them!

Add Some Plants

Real or fake, I don't care. Whatever looks good is what I say! Boxwoods and evergreens look great during the winter. Tropicals are fun during the summer. Plants add life and color to your front porch, and can create a more natural and organic feel (even if they are plastic!). You can add potted plants, such as flowers or herbs, or even hang some plants from the ceiling to create a beautiful and relaxing atmosphere. If you're not sure which plants to choose, consider going to your local garden center for advice.

Add an Entry Envy Sign

A welcoming Entry Envy sign can make your front porch feel more inviting and friendly. And, equally important, if it's a first time guest or delivery driver, they will rest assured knowing they are at the right house when they can clearly see your house numbers, last initial, or last name. Or, you can simply add a cheerful message such as "Welcome" or "Hello". Hang the sign by your front door, or place it on a small table near your seating area. The planter box on the front of the sign is the perfect place for our monthly faux floral refill decor kit subscription to keep your sign in season and style! When our kit arrives to your door at the end of the month, spent two months swapping out the decor and your porch is ready for the next holiday.

Add a Personal Touch

Adding a personal touch to your front porch can make it feel more welcoming and friendly. You can add a door mat with a personalized message, or hang outdoor artwork. You can also add some decorative objects, such as a vintage bike or a colorful umbrella, to create a unique and personal atmosphere. Candles on a side table are wonderful, too. Just remember, less is more - so pick and choose what you want to feature for the season and don't go overboard.

Enjoy!

Creating a welcoming and fun entry on your front porch is all about creating a relaxed and inviting atmosphere that makes everyone feel welcome. So go ahead, get creative, and create a front porch that reflects your personality and makes your guests feel right at home! And you might even find yourself out there reading a book and enjoying a glass of wine.
